![]() Project description La Tejona is a 19.8 MW wind power project, situated in the middle of Costa Rica, near Lake Arenal, in the province of Guanacaste. The Tejona wind farm is made up of thirty VESTAS V47-660 kW wind turbines and is fully operational since the beginning of 2003. Costa Rica and the Netherlands have endorsed and supported the project as an Activity Implemented Jointly (AIJ) in order to gain experience with the implementation of project based emission reduction. Standard As of 23 March 2007 Tejona is a registered Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) project. Baseline Methodology Additionality Additionality is demonstrated by using the ‘Tool for the demonstration and assessment of additionality of 28 November 2005’. Both the Investment Analysis method and the Barrier Analysis Method were chosen and validated by TUV-SUD. Why we purchased it? Essent contributed in significant ways for the development of this project: we invested capital in the project and supplied technical know-how during the project development phase in cooperation with the Costa Rican electricity company.
